In 1859 the church that would become Zion Hill Baptist Church was organized by members of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The church was named Three County Corners Baptist because the county lines of Burke, Cleveland and Lincoln Counties converged on the church’s property. In 1889 a new framed church building was started. During a Sunday morning sermon, the Reverend Bill Hull commented that the church had been called Three County Corners long enough and he was going to change the name to Zion Hill Baptist Church, and we’ve remained Zion Hill ever since.
