In 1859 the church that would become Zion Hill Baptist Church was organized by members of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The church was named Three County Corners Baptist because the county lines of Burke, Cleveland and Lincoln Counties converged on the church’s property. In 1889 a new framed church building was started. During a Sunday morning sermon, the Reverend Bill Hull commented that the church had been called Three County Corners long enough and he was going to change the name to Zion Hill Baptist Church, and we’ve remained Zion Hill ever since.

In 1950 construction on the new brick building we have today was started, with it being completed by years end. The first service in the new building was held on October 29, 1950. In 1961-62 the church parsonage was completed and in 1974 the church voted to build our current fellowship hall. In 2009 we celebrated our 150th year with our goals set for many more.

Zion Hill Baptist Church has proudly served the community of Lawndale and surrounding areas, working hard to inform people about Jesus Christ and the love he had for all peoples. Zion Hill and Pastor Allan Barlow invite you to join us on this journey and spread the word of God.
